Cassandra Wilson, an acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, has passed away. She was 70.

Wilson passed away in Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday morning, according to AP News.

In a statement to jazz radio station WBGO, Wilson’s passing was confirmed.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cassandra Wilson, the Grammy Award-winning and legendary jazz artist. Cassandra Wilson transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends, and her manager,” the statement read.
